Halo: Reach…Rumors in Reach

Time for a quick rumor review from the crawler. After scouring the internet for the best and most prevalen rumors I have found one truly unified thought… Squad based gameplay. Several gamers are saying that due to information provided in the teaser trailer they believe in the newest installment of the Halo legacy you are no longer alone. One line in the trailer states, ” We have Spartans on the ground.” Could this imply more than one? As every devout Halo enthusist will tell you the Marine AI in the halo series aren’t the most intelligent or tactically inclined, but what does this mean for a squad based game where your party is comprised totally of Spartans? Will this mean that the player will be in control of his own personal Master Chief army? I guess we’ll just have to wait for the beta release in 2010 to find out. Until then you guess is as good as mine.

CoD: Modern Warfare 2…’Nuf Said

Well it’s time for another game review from the Crawler. I have just had the pleasure of playing several matches of the newest phenomenon to come from Infinity Ward, and I have to say is this: I’m both addicted and amazed with this game.The game has all of the great action you would expect fro a CoD game as well as few new extras. Among the tons of unlockables available you have the option of selecting you call sign, use of a new “syntax” or sticky grenade, as well as the ability to swap out regular grenades for the new Throwing knife ability. Along with the fast paced campaign, the old multiplayer game types are still available along with new maps and a few more game types. The one thing I have found about this game that i don’t like is that there is one major perk that is no longer available: Overkill. To many fans I know this may come as a disappointment, but the action involved in the online gameplay more than makes up for this. So, to all of you CoD fans out there, rest assured the developers at Infinity Ward have once again met, and in my opinion, surpassed the high standards they themselves have set with their prior games.

RoM: Guilds Are Whats Up!

Hello all! It’s me again with another dungeon crawler report. When it comes to RoM, guilds are where the fun is. Certain events and quests in game will actually require that you have at least one other high level player in your party before entering, for your own safety of course. I have actually had the pleasure of going through several quests with a mid level party last night while helping some friends get their lower level quests done. Then i got to thinking: What would it take to start my own guild? Well, i read through some information out of game and found that I am not really interested in starting my own, at least not yet. I am currently part of a 56 member guild called the HolyGuardians and have had all the help and support i would ever need. The leaders are ready to answer any questions you may have and if you need that little extra push from a higher level character to finish a quest you been working on, the Holy Gaurdians are there when you need them. So, if your on Govindia server just starting out or just tired of dungeon crawling alone feel free to Whisper either me (Phelios) or one of the guild officials Corogrin for some info.

Who’s Got your Back?

What is the one thought everyone has just after logging in to a new online game for the first time? Man, this is lonely. What do I do now? Im here to answer just that. One of the first steps you should take after you build your initial required buildings and your embassy would be to find yourself a good alliance. While there are many alliances out there in the world of Evony, do some research before you decide. Now, seeing as I have been in 2 alliances under multiple different account names, I may not be the most experienced, but I’ll try to point you in the right direction.

The Basics:
One of the first things to look for when researching your future alliance is the number of members. Youâ€™re not gonna want to join some loud mouth alliance with only 10k prestige and 3 members. Look for the alliances who offer support in the alliance bio, and those with higher prestige so that you know they can handle helping you and themselves if necessary. The next thing to lookout for is the alliances that have hundreds of members just so they can complete their quests. These guys are only in it for the numbers, not the spirit of the game. Another thing to look into when researching the alliances is the location of the alliance members and how far they are from you. Believe me; you do not want to be waiting 12 hours for resources hat an alliance member is sending when you have enemies breathing down your neck! Once you have reviewed some alliance info, try to open a dialogue with either the leader or a high raked member of the alliance and see how the communication goes. Ask the alliance what its goals are and see if these goals meet your own, then make your decision.

Alliances of North March:
Now comes the part where I have to promote a little bit. When creating a new account or continuing a current acct, itâ€™s helpful to know that someone will have your back. One alliance that will always have its members back is the Malice alliance. With its seasoned administration being run by Heath80 (Host), SirOreck(Vice Host), Sir Leone(Vice Host), Morrin Bagdel(Presbyter), and Tryder(Presbyter). All five of which are over 100,000 prestige. With an alliance like Malice backing you, you can be proud to answer when asked: Who’s got your back?

Runes of Magic: Next big thing in free online MMO?

Being the gamer that I am I find in the online world there is a sad truth: The number of free online MMO’s is extremely small. Not only that, but who wants a game with jerky graphics or only a few “customizable” character options? Don’t get me wrong. Hats off to all of those programmers out there pumping out the free stuff, but when the word customizable comes with a price tag then it’s no longer a free MMO. Anyway, one day while surfing the Interweb in between upgrades on my Evony(www.Evony.com) accounts I came across an advertisement for a Online MMO that according to reviews could out do WoW. Runes of Magic. Before I took the time to get involved in the game I did a little research. I found the game was completely free to play, had a few reasonable system requirements, and was comprised of a basic free world quest system. I will admit, the client download for this game is a bit lengthy, but after going on and starting my account I found that the game really was a decent game. You are given the basic Male/Female options for your character creation, but then you are given several other options for customizing. I found that despite a few issues with controls for combat and movement, such as the auto movement AI not being able to negotiate turns, overall the game was produced on a reasonable RPG base. The creatures and characters are well defined with well thought out story lines as well as full functional weapon, item, and armor upgrading system. You first start out in a basic movement and action training area, but if you feel up to learning on the fly this mode can be skipped. After this you enter the first of numerous areas full of quests and stories to follow. You are then given a world of options from which quests to take to mounts or even physical appearance. In the end I have found that if you have the system req’s and some spare time, this game is well worth spending it on, and as always: I’ll see you in the game!

Wii Getting a Price…Finally!!

Nintendo has now officially announced the price cut for the Wii. The original $249 price will be reduced by $50 in North America and will get dropped 5,000 yen in Japan for the Nintendo Wii. The price cut will take place Sept. 27 in both North America and Japan. Not much of a surprise because of all the leaked advertisements suggesting a Wii price cut but now its now it’s official. It seems like all the consoles are getting in preparation for the holiday season with all the price drops. There is no hints of a price cut for the Wii in Europe. We’ll be sure to have updates as soon as they’re announced.

Video Games For Educational Success

With video games becoming a daily activity for kids, a school in New York City is considering to use video games as an educational tool. Gamepolitics states that there is plans to incorporate games such as Spore and LittleBigPlanet into the academic scene, There is also plans to incorporate Photoshop, Maya and Google Earth into the school.

I hope they decide to do so, I strongly believe that video games are a great road to educational success for all types of students. I believe this because it gives students something to relate to instead of the old and sometimes boring methods of teaching students, I was lucky enough to be a student to participate in something similar to this when i was in grade school, we were given PlayStation ones and a educational video game that we would have to play for our homework. I have to say that i enjoyed playing “video games” as homework instead of doing boring homework.

Katie Salen, a Professor of Design at Parsons and Executive Director of the Institute of Play who came up with the idea states: “There has been a cultural shift in the past few years. Parents and teachers recognize a kind of engagement children have with games and digital media that could lead to a new way of learning.”

The Forza 3 experience

Even with so much competition in this video game genre, Forza Motorsport 3 doesn’t fail to impress. Forza Mortorsport 3 looks like a video game artwork, with the option to digitally customize your car to show your creativity and show your true artistic side. Forza Motorsport 1 and 2 were also great games, the third installment is even better.

The game was well designed and it is absolutely stunning, we know you’ll enjoy it

Forza Motorsport 3 will be released on October 27th for the Xbox 360.

Looking For A Free Online Game? Evony Is Your Answer

Try Evony.com… Im on week 4 and love it. Build up a city with an army and alliances and go destroy everyone else, and well its a free browser based game. Meaning no downloads or slow runtimes. If you have that great connection everything will be just fine. But if you want to give yourself that little extra boost. They do accept money for game coins that can give you a good amount of upgrades. Do understand that this game does use real time. (If you sleep for 8 hours that gives the enemy 8 hours to attack without you sending troops back at them.) Your trying to upgrade buildings in your city? Upgrading to higher levels will sometimes take up to 40 hours. But evony does provide scripts. Upon completing quest these scripts can shorten your build times up to 8 hours, Making it alot better when you have a 10 hour upgrade. More troops you try to create at once will take longer as well. Good thing about that though is you can have more then one barrack which will then split the time of production of troops by however many you have. And dont forget your defenses of your city. Cause just as much as you want to attack, Someone else wants to attack you. You do use a resource system that lets you gain money, food, stone, lumber and iron. Now food is going to be your biggest issue because when you build your army up they sure do love to eat. So be sure to have plenty of food for them. The more resource fields you build determines how much resources you gain in an hour. but youll see it every second rising. On top of resource fields another way of being able to increase resources is threw conquering valleys. Which works the same way. For valleys its on a level system meaning the higher level the valley the higher that resources percentage goes up. For examble if you conquer a level 7 grassland you food production will increase by 9% which doesnt seem like much but trust me when you play the game every little bit counts. So get on server 41 and send me a message at SirOreck using there mailing system. Ill be sure to send you a request for my alliance. Cause wants your in an alliance with friends you can then share resources with each other as well as reinforce a friends city to give them that extra boost in there defense. Game On!!!
